dawki, Meghalaya, India

About 60kms from shillong is an old route to Tamabil used since the days much before the Raj for trade between Khasis and Bangladesh. Till date this continues. A scenic evening from above the cliff as it hangs imposingly overlooking the plains holds a place called Dawki. Absolutely magnificent with beetle nut plantations and brooms. Plenty of river quarries stand below on the shallow waters which appear dark bluish to emarald.
